Mebahel's Creatures – Draugr Invasion
Ancient warriors don't rest easy. Deep beneath frozen mountains and crumbling ruins, the Draugr stir — and they remember how to fight.
Mebahel's Creatures – Draugr Invasion brings a full undead Nordic faction to Minecraft, drawing heavy inspiration from Skyrim's iconic Draugr. But this isn't a simple port. Every creature has been rebuilt from the ground up with custom AI, layered combat mechanics, and progression systems that feel native to Minecraft. Expect intelligent enemies, atmospheric dungeons, a player-targeted raid system, and loot worth dying for.

Fabric
The Bestiary
Seven distinct undead creatures, each with their own role on the battlefield:
| Creature | Role |
|---|---|
| Draugr | Frontline melee infantry. The backbone of any encounter. |
| Draugr Archer | Ranged support. Keeps pressure on you from a distance. |
| Draugr Wight | Hybrid fighter. Switches between melee strikes and spell projectiles. |
| Draugr Scourge | Pure caster. Dangerous at range, fragile up close. |
| Skeleton Warrior | Heavily armored. Hits hard, takes a beating. |
| Skeleton Warrior Head | A severed skull that flees and can regenerate into a full Skeleton Warrior if left unchecked. |
| Draugr Overlord | Boss-tier. Multi-phase combat AI with dash attacks, combos, and special abilities. |
Combat and AI
These aren't your typical shambling undead. Draugr were elite warriors in life, and their AI reflects that.
- Context-aware blocking — they read your attacks and raise their guard accordingly
- Potion usage — wounded Draugr will drink potions when conditions are right
- Threat assessment — enemies evaluate health, distance, and danger to decide their next move
- Spell projectiles — Wights and Scourges cast frost-based magic at range
- Boss mechanics — the Draugr Overlord features fully animated dash attacks, multi-hit combos, phase transitions, and unique abilities that demand real strategy
Artifacts and Magic
Draugr magic is old, cold, and powerful. Key items tie into the mod's progression:
- Spell Staves — channel frost magic. Found in structures or crafted.
- Golden Claw Fragments — scattered throughout Draugr Crypts and Bastions. Collect them and assemble a complete Golden Claw at a crafting table.
- Golden Claw — the key to activating a Draugr Altar. Place it to awaken the Draugr Overlord and begin the boss encounter.
- Awakening Soul Gem — an empty vessel that absorbs the essence of slain Draugr. Kill 12 while carrying it to fill it completely.
- Filled Awakening Gem — the charged gem. Use it at the surface to trigger a Draugr Raid directly on your position.
- Soul Gems – The essential power source for Spell Caster Traps.
- Soul Essence – A rare material obtained by smelting Soul Sand (30% success rate). It is primarily used to craft and repair Soul Gems.
The Awakening Soul Gem can be found in vanilla chests, modded structures, or crafted directly.
The Raid System
Forget village raids. This one comes for you.
Once your Awakening Soul Gem is fully charged, use it at the surface to begin the assault. Waves of increasingly dangerous enemies will converge on your location:
- Early waves — Draugr and Skeleton Warriors
- Mid waves — Wights and Scourges join the fight
- Final wave — a Draugr Overlord arrives
Difficulty scales through configuration, and completing the raid drops exclusive loot and valuable rewards. This is designed to be a challenging, repeatable endgame encounter you can trigger on your own terms.
Ancient Defenses and Tower Defense
The mod now features a comprehensive magical trap system inspired by ancient Nordic ruins. These defenses serve both as dungeon hazards and as a new strategic layer for players.
Spell Caster Traps
These magical sentinels automatically target and fire destructive spells at intruders.
- Frostbite Trap – Fires freezing magic projectiles to slow and damage enemies.
- Frost Spike Trap – Launches sharp, high-velocity icy spikes.
- Firebolt Trap – Shoots blazing projectiles for fire-based damage.
Player-Crafted Defenses
They require Soul Gems to function. Players can now utilize this ancient technology for their own bases. By using Ebony Ingots, all trap variants can be crafted and placed. These player-owned traps can be further improved with three unique enchantments:
- Empowered Spells – Increases the damage dealt by the spells.
- Rapid Casting – Increases the firing speed of the trap.
- Multi Shot – Allows the trap to fire multiple projectiles simultaneously.
Structures
Four new structures spawn naturally in your world, each with a distinct purpose and difficulty curve.
Draugr Bastion
A massive fortification nestled in cold mountains. Crumbling walls hide abandoned ruins filled with treasure, secret passages, and a grand hall containing a Draugr Altar. The dungeon is brought to life by a rotation of ambient sounds pulled straight from Skyrim's caves and crypts — around ten unique tracks that play as you explore, keeping the atmosphere tense and immersive. Scattered throughout the bastion are Golden Claw Fragments: collect them all, craft the Golden Claw, and use it on the altar to summon the Draugr Overlord. Defeat the boss, and a reward chest will rise from the ground at the exact spot where it was summoned.
Draugr Crypt
The crown jewel. A sprawling underground dungeon with multi-room layouts, puzzle elements, hidden chambers, and large treasure halls. Like the Bastion, the Crypt features its own set of ambient Skyrim-inspired dungeon sounds that shift as you move deeper, making every corridor feel alive. Golden Claw Fragments are hidden across the crypt's rooms and passages — piece them together to forge the Golden Claw and activate the central altar. At its heart lies a central arena where the Draugr Overlord awaits. Bring it down, and a chest packed with endgame loot will emerge from the floor where the altar stands. This structure is rare by design — it's meant to be a true endgame objective with extreme risk and matching rewards.
Draugr Fort
An abandoned Overworld fort overrun by Infernal Draugr. Smaller in scope but still dangerous, with treasures left behind by the warriors who once held it.
Draugr Tower
A small-sized surface structure built in Nordic medieval style. Thematic loot, strong lore ties, and a hostile garrison that players can clear and claim.
Multiplayer Loot System
All Draugr structures use a shared loot chest system built for multiplayer:
- Every player gets their own independent loot roll from the same chest
- Compatible with both vanilla and modded loot tables
- Chests feature immersive spawn animations
- No more fighting your friends over a single diamond
Configuration
Three JSON files give you full control over the mod's balance:
bonus_health_config.json — Set bonus health values (0 to 100) for every undead creature. Useful for scaling difficulty to your modpack.
combat_balancing_config.json — Fine-tune combat AI behavior: block chance ranges, potion usage probability, and raid difficulty scaling.
spawn_rate_config.json — Adjust spawn frequencies for all creatures on a 0 to 10 scale.
